Twenty years ago some of the largest mass anti-nuclear demonstrations
and civil disobedience actions in Bay Area history were undertaken
at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Now we are facing
development of a new generation of nuclear weapons ("Bunker Busters")
and a proposed biowarfare facility at the Livermore Labs. And we
have a government that seems willing to use these weapons.
Marylia Kelley, Executive Director of Tri-Valley Cares, will present
an update on the threat from these new weapons and the organizing
against them.
As Alameda County Greens, how can we help fight these threats to
humanity? Can we organize a strong visible Green contingent for
the major August 10 Hiroshima Day demonstrations planned at the
lab?
Come and share your thoughts and help organize.
Beverages and snacks
will be provided.
