Green Party of Alameda County Members March for Peace and Protest the War on the Iraqi People - February 15 & 16 - Protests, Marches, Rallies

SAN FRANCISCO
Sunday, February 16
Assemble at 11 a.m. at Embarcadero & Market
March at 1 p.m. to Civic Center for 2 p.m. Rally

The Green Party Contingent for the San Francisco Peace March will be gathering this Sunday morning at Justin Herman Plaza, near the Hyatt Hotel (near Embarcadero BART). We need LOTS of volunteers at 10:00 am to help us distribute our "Green Party / Vote Peace" flags, as well as to help with voter registration! If you can, please leave us a message at 510-644-2293 to let us know you can volunteer. (We will "brief" you on what you need to know when you arrive at 10:00 am). Thank you! See you in S.F. on Sunday!

10 am: Gathering at Justin Herman Plaza next to the Hyatt. Look for Green Flags and Banners. We need lots of volunteers to help distribute our "peace flags" and register voters. Volunteers are needed at 10 am! (Embarcadero BART Stop)!

1-2 pm: MARCH TO THE CIVIC CENTER! Bay Area United Against War is the producing entity for this march and the Greens are a part of the this coalition so we need to do our share of the work on the day of the protest. If you can volunteer to help on Sunday with crowd control, fundraising (bucket passing), parade monitoring and other crucial tasks, please contact Susan King at funking@mindspring,com.

A march and rally opposing war against Iraq will be held Saturday, February 15th, in San Jose. The march will start at 11 am at Roosevelt Park (East Santa Clara and 19th Streets) and will proceed to Cesar Chavez Plaza (Market Street between San Carlos and San Fernando Streets) for a noontime rally. This is part of worldwide peace demonstrations planned for this date.


SACRAMENTO
Saturday, February 15 from Noon - 5pm Converge on the Capitol
Peace Rally West & South Steps State Capitol
10th Street & Capitol Avenue .

NOON: GREEN PARTY MEMBERS are meeting at the corner of 5th St. and T St.at Noon to march to the Capitol. Groups will begin marching from different points in downtown and converge on the Capitol west and south steps between 12:30 and 1pm. Parking is available under the freeway at 5th and W. Bus #38 leaves downtown at 9th & L at 11:25am, then get off at 3rd and T (at the orange tree) and walk two blocks east to 5th and T.

WEAR GREEN! BRING BANNERS AND SIGNS AND DRUMS!! We'll have "Vote Peace" Green Party Flags available for a small donation. We can attach one to your homemade sign or get one from us with a stick already attached.

WE NEED LOTS OF VOLUNTEERS TO DISTRIBUTE FLAGS! Contact Starlene if you can volunteer to distribute flags and please arrive at the meeting place (5th & T) by 11:30 am. Email: starlene@greens.org Call: 215-1302 (cell phone-also, use this number for the day of the protest)

1 pm: At the Rally, there will be a main stage Program with Music, Speakers, & Street Theatre, and off-stage Food Sales, Kids Activities, Informational Displays (GP table), and interactive opportunities for music, street theater, etc. The event will close with a Peace Circle from 4-5pm.

5 ish at Capitol Garage Coffee Co. 1427 L St. (across from the State Capitol grounds) Everyone's invited to a GREEN PARTY SOCIAL AND DEBRIEFING Saturday evening after the Rally. Meet other Greens from all over Northern California!

Friday, February 14, the night before the BIG PROTEST from 6pm - 10pm. Come to our SIGN-MAKING PARTY at 926 J St., 2nd floor. Make yourself a sign for the Anti-war protests. If you can bring some art supplies to share, that would be great. Treats provided!
