Southern end of Aquatic Park in Berkeley
Saturday, November 22
Meet at 10 and work until 2.
You're invited to participate in work designed to
make our planet more hospitable. Please invite anyone who would
like to get involved in the hands on aspects of saving this planet.
Please bring lunch, water, and gloves. We'll provide
trash bags for collecting trash and gardening tools to work on the
native garden that is planted on the shores of the lagoon.
The south end of the park is now known informally
as Egret Park, named by its volunteer caretaker, Mark Liolios. You
can read about his project at http://www.internettime.com/bpwa/aquatic_park/Environmental%
20Greening.htm
To get there, go to Shellmound Street in Emeryville. Shellmound
is reached from Berkeley by going south on 6th Ave., crossing Ashby,
and turning right on 67th. Once you cross the railroad tracks, turn
right on Shellmound. Head north (as if you were going toward the
I-80), but when Shellmound bears left toward the freeway, go into
your right into the park. You can also park on Addison at the north
end of the park and walk or bike the one mile to the south end.
