I live in El Cerrito, and I am a general contractor. I joined the Green Party in 2003 and have been active in many local West County efforts including organizing the El Cerrito Greens, tabling and standing against the wars with the Richmond Greens and activating with the Richmond Progressive Alliance. In 2004 I was part of the outreach team of the campaign to elect Gayle McLaughlin to the Richmond City Council. I was part of the mobilization demanding appropriate clean up of the Zeneca site in Richmond, now under CalEPA supervision. More recently I have supported the Solar Richmond initiative and I am working in the campaign to elect Gayle McLaughlin mayor of Richmond. In past years I also helped in the electoral campaigns of Peter Camejo, Matt Gonzalez and Aimee Allison (2005). For the Green Party I support and promote democracy and independence from the corporate controled parties. I thank you for your vote.

Christy Gale (Incumbent)
I have been involved with the Green Party of Contra Costa since its inception, and have served on the County Council for five previous terms.
I served first in the capacity as Secretary, have served as Treasurer since 1997, and have been involved in other internal party functions including membership, newsletter and various campaigns. I have always been interested in environmental issues, and was previously a member of the Ecology Working Group of the Green Party of California. I live in Concord and am employed as a legal secretary and systems administrator at a Walnut Creek law firm. I hope to continue my work with the Green Party of Contra Costa into the future.

I live in Pinole and have been a registered Green since 2001. I am an active member of the Richmond and Contra Costa Greens as well as the Richmond and Contra Costa Progressive Alliances. I was a member of the organizing committees that brought two anti-war rallies to Contra Costa County in 2005 and 2006. I was a volunteer for the 2003 Camejo for Governor campaign and was Volunteer Coordinator for the 2004 McLaughlin for Richmond City Council campaign. I have spent the last 10 years doing administrative and program work for a variety of non-profits: environmental, political, social service and public health, all of which have reflected my values and given meaning to my work. I have attended County Council meetings for the last several years to stay informed on what’s happening in our Party, even though I have not been a member of the Council. During my tenure on the County Council I intend to work on increasing transparency, communication and participation between the local, county and state levels of our Party and hope you will join me in my efforts. Thank you for your consideration.

I live in Richmond where I arrived twenty years ago from East L.A. My parents are immigrants from Veracruz, Mexico. I graduated from UC Berkeley where I studied sciences, engineering and women studies. I have worked for 17 years for the Berkeley Unified School District. I started as a teacher’s aid, later I became a computer lab instructor and I for the last five years I have been an administration assistant for the district. I am also a bilingual (Spanish-English) computer lab instructor with the Oakland Technology Exchange West. All my adult life I have been an activist for social and economic justice, gender justice as well as for the environment. I have been a registered Green since 1994. Among the goals I have for my time in the County Council is to expand the presence of the Green Party among Latinos and People of Color. Thank you for your support.

Craig Peterson (Incumbent)
Contra Costa has been my home for the last thirty-six years and I care about it greatly. Because I was concerned that the major parties were not addressing the needs of Contra Costa (or any other part of the political process), I registered Green in 1995 and became active with the Contra Costa Green Party in 2000. In addition to serving as a member of the County Council for two terms I have had the honor to serve as the Alternate Representative for the East Bay Region on the State Party’s Coordinating Committee for the last four years. I am one of the founding members of the Diablo Greens. I have enjoyed supporting both the Contra Costa Green Party (co-producing our newsletter, The Activist and tabling at the Walnut Creek Farmer’s Market) and candidates for office (I served as part of the 2002 Green Slate Steering Committee and the Peter Camejo for Governor in 2003 team.) I ask for your vote so that I may continue this work.

I have lived in Contra Costa for 23 years, been registered Green since 1995, and have been continuously active in the Green Party since Ralph Nader's Presidential campaign in 2000. I have been honored to serve on the Green Party of Contra Costa County Council since March 2002, and am now seeking re-election for my third term. In addition to maintaining the Green Party of Contra Costa website, I am a representative of Contra Costa, Alameda and Solano Counties on the state Green Party Coordinating Committee, on which I currently serve as Co-Coordinator. I am committed to building a strong opposition party in California and ask for your support so that I can continue to do my part. Since democracy is not a spectator sport, I also ask all Contra Costa Greens to join us in active politics. Your County Council welcomes your participation.

I am a Public Health epidemiologist who has lived in Contra Costa and worked for the Contra Costa County Health Services Department for the last fifteen years. I graduated from UC Berkeley in 1989 with a Masters in Public Health and have been part of the local response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. I am a veteran of the anti-globalization "Battle of Seattle" (1999) and a founder of the Richmond Greens, our first local. I’m also a founding member of the Richmond Progressive Alliance and I successfully ran the "Gayle McLaughlin for Richmond City Council" campaign 2004. In 2006 I am again Gayle’s campaign manager in her run for Mayor of Richmond. I have been on the County Council for two years and I am seeking re-election.

Jeanne-Marie Rosenmeier (Incumbent)
My name is Jeanne-Marie Rosenmeier, and I am running for a seat on the County Council. I have been active in the local party since 2000, and ran for State Treasurer on Peter Camejo's slate in 2002. I was treasurer of Camejo for Governor 2003. I believe very strongly in the local roots of the Green Party. In my opinion, our goal in Contra Costa
is to establish groups of local Greens all over the county. As we have proven in Santa Monica, San Francisco, and other places where Greens are strong, we make a real difference in local government, and function well in coalition with progressives of every stripe. If you vote for me, I will work to raise the profile of the Green Party in Contra Costa, and to reestablish our local financial base.
