The Delegate Selection Committee was formed as part of the proposal, "DELEGATE SELECTION TO THE NATIONAL NOMINATING CONVENTION," approved at the GPCA General Assembly on May 27, 2007 at San Francisco.
From the proposal:
"The Delegate Selection Committee shall be an ad hoc committee of the General Assembly empowered to select and credential the California delegation to the national Presidential nominating convention in accordance with the methods described in the following Sections."
The National Nominating Convention is July 10-13, 2008 in Chicago, Illinois.
Current Status of Delegate Recruitment
- Delegate recruitment was extended to Feb 1. The results are posted on the extended recruitment page. The lists on this page combine the delegates from the original Dec. 7 deadline with the additional delegates from the extended recruitment.
Delegate applicants were asked to sign up on a county slate and/or one candidate slate.
The following delegate lists are from the original Dec. 7 deadline:
The (Dec 7) county slate page shows all delegates on the county-only slates, and those delegates who signed on both a county and candidate slate. This page also shows the total delegate count.
The (Dec 7) candidate slates page shows all delegates who sign on to a candidate slate.
NOTE: Correlating the candidate and county slates was a manual process. Please notify the Delegate Selection Committee is you find an error.

Delegate Recruitment
On Jan. 25, the Delegate Selection Committee voted to extend the delegate recruitment deadline to Feb. 1.
Delegate recruitment ran from Nov. 28 to Dec. 7. There is discussion currently in progress about whether or not to re-open delegate recruitment.
The state delegate apportionment formula from the GPUS is still being decided at this time. Some proposals would give California 168 delegates, and one proposal gives us 200 delegates. All proposals also contain some formulation of proxies to compensate the the delegate list if the count falls short.
