And finally, here are my recap and responses from the previous discussions: TIMING: Sounds like we agree to have it coincide with plenaries. The Green gathering is in mid-August, according to Beth. I assume the next plenary would be sometime towards November or December, just like last year? So, it would be good to plan on having the next issue of the newspaper for August 1st or something like that. CO-COORDINATORS: I just wanted to add that I do have a lot of things on my plate -- the biggest being that we are going to start our own newspaper down here in San Diego to counter our right-wing Union Tribune monopoly and we're working with the graphics labor union, the smaller local and alternative papers, our activist umbrella group and Indymedia so it's a pretty big project. What I am trying to say is that I would love to be a co-coordinator on this but if you find someone else who is interested, or if you (Laura) would rather be the main coordinator and I help you out with editing or something like that, then that is quite fine with me as well. Having said all this, I am happy to do the co-co job -- just didn't want to impose any kind of structure if you feel that it would work better with a single coordinator, etc. Also, if you know of someone else who has expertise in newspaper publishing (I have absolutely no experience in this domain), then that is quite ok with me. EMAIL: I will go ahead and contact Cameron then to create an email address for us at newspaper@greens.org. Who should it be forwarded to at this point in time? Should that be Laura Wells and me? VOLUNTEERS: I just sent out the compiled list that I have. I think we have enough people to start working on the issue. In addition, if some of the people from the "Vote Green 2002" issue would be interested in continuing with the newspaper, then we are pretty much set there. Now, how do we go about in contacting them? FOCUS: As Laura mentioned, this is an ongoing discussion but I think we are all on the same wavelength. My guess is the editorial board (whoever that is --- are those the same as the coordinators or is there a separate editorial board?) will make the final decisions on the focus. That raises the question actually, who is the editorial board and how are they chosen? TITLE: I sent out a list of the suggestions I had received; mostly from San Diego Greens. If we like one of those then we should take it and go with it, otherwise we could ask around or announce a contest. Hey, maybe the winner of the contest could get one year free subscription to the paper :-) If we are doing a contest, how do we advertise it? COUPON/SUBSCRIPTIONS: I think we need to discuss the subscription amount and process in detail more. Don't you think? EXISTING GREEN PUBLICATIONS: I agree with looking at existing publications. I particularly enjoyed the Green Press from Santa Cruz, which I ran into couple of weeks ago while at a conference there. WEBSITE: We should also put a team together to work on an online version of the newspaper. Do you think Kendra would be willing to do it or should I look into it? -Karine
