Green Party of California

The Party Projects Page

Green Party of California is leading "The New Progressive Movement" - we're all involved and here is a starting place so that you can be too.

This page contains a list of ongoing projects (a.k.a. efforts or collaborations) that are currently underway within Green Party of California; in the Committees, in the Working Groups.

Projects

Each link leads to a page describing:

  • The goals of the project - the "What We're Doing"
  • The email address(es) of the "Project Activator": a person or persons who are working on the project - the "Who's Doing It"

Some of the pages contain additional notes, links, and other information. All of them will lead you to where you can join in and lend a hand

Starting/Joining a Project

If you have an issue or a project, then there are two possibilities: your project is already on the list or it isn't.

Helping With Existing Projects

If you see your issue in the project list above, then go to the project page, find the email address for the Project Activator, and drop them an email note telling them that you want to help. Someone will get back to you and tell you how you can join in the effort.

Starting A New Project

If you don't see a project in the list that addresses your issue, then follow this simple procedure:

  1. Compose an email stating the goal of your project. Remember to keep the goal realistic and attainable. Ex: "Stop Global Warming" is an issue, but that's a tall order for a single project. "Pass legislation authorizing tax incentives for solar panels in CA" is a little more like it.
  2. Generally speaking, the Committees and Working Groups will assume that you, as the sender, want to function as Project Activator. But you should also give the names of any other people who also want to function in that role (there can be more than one).
  3. If you know what Committee or Working Group the project belongs under, then send your email to the co-co of that group. Ex: suppose you are trying to reform election law in Modoc County; that's Electoral Reform Working Group. Suppose you are trying to form a local in Kings County - that's Grass Roots Organizing Workshop.
Note: You don't need to guess - if you don't know, or if you have any doubt at all about the Committee or Working Group, then simply send your email to the Co-Co of the Green Issues Working Group and let them figure it out for you.

That's all there is to it! And here is what will happen:

  • Someone will get back to you giving you additional details
  • The project will get added to the list above
  • A simple web page will be created so that the next Green that comes along can see What and Who and offer you some help.
