Warner will do next mtg agenda
going around: Jerry, Warner (is not running for anything), Spencer Graves (408)294-5779, me, Andrea, Jim Stauffer, Greg Dunkerley of the Cal Clean Money Campaign, Tian, Tom, Brian Good, Jim Doyle
ratify the agenda, noting that 21 items/2hr = 6 mins/item
Clean Money update.
Greg is here to advocate for the Cal
Fair Elections Act, it's on the June ballot. Took 2 legislative
sessions to get this
far. Went through many committees in both
houses. Jun'08, schwartzenegger signed it. Now
it goes to the voters because it overturns part of the
Constitution. This is a pilot program, secretry of
state only, starting in 2014. patterned on ME and AZ
systems. Candidates qualify by gathering 15K
sigs +15K$5donations. Half that if you're a Dem or a GOP
candidate. “Minor” candidates can get a
quarter of the money the biggies get by collecting 3500
sigs+donations or by your party getting 10% in the race for the
office you're running for. Go to yesfairelections.org, asks for
$5
donation.
Caroline is getting a mastectomy. Andrea proposes sending flowers as a group. $70-$100. Collected in a hat right away.
Candidates for county council. Tian says everyone should run. Get papers Feb 15, due march 12.
joyle, maybe we should combine cc and general mtg to make the position more attractive.
Fred: where are the rules, what the office is. Warner, it's the bylaws. Tian, it's a volunteer position to represent the party. Jdoyle, have you asked others not in this room? Andrea, candidates should be familiar with the party, not newcomers. Merriam, let's decide that after we have a county council.
Tabling issues.
Warner, lets order more seeds, they go stale. Merriam, we should sprout them and sell the seedlings.
World water day mar22 (caroline unavailable)
Feb 6 Berkeley, GP reunion. Carpooling, tian is organizing.
Food and planning for statewide mtg, cmte report. Andrea and Merriam getting vegan books, there's a menu, not costed yet. Jan 11 mtg, must have solid cost and schedule.
We need a business grade paypal button on the county site. Consensus on that. (Done a week later by me and jdoyle.)
Fred, we should cultivate standing relationships with reporters.
Merriam, periodite (ed note, those who refuse to do arithmetic are doomed to talk nonsense.)
Long discussion of individual symbolic efforts.
Jim, joint Green+Libertarian op ed piece on IRV proposed. Many affirmations, no concerns.
Downtown hostpital. Status unknown. County is shooting for a clinic, not a whole hospital.
Site purchase under consideration by the county supes.
Gaza freedom march report. Merriam, info from Donna Wallach. Rumor of sellout by Code Pink.
Tabling literature shortage. Andrea, we are out of prop rep flyers. Ran out at Junior State and Deanza.
Need updated flyers and the old pizza flyer. Jim has the pdf.
We finish at 9:30
