Upon
inspection of second preferences, one of Mead's first preference supporters supported
Aranda with their second preference, and one supported McKeown with
their second preference;

of McKeown's

supporters supported Mead and did not cast a second preference. In
the first scenario, Aranda is elected 5 - 3. In the second scenario, Aranda is
elected 4 - 3.
Note: according to Rob Richie, Executive DIrector of the Center
for Voting & Democracy in Washington, D.C., the first step should not have
been to look at the second preferences, but to do a coin flip first between Mead
and
McKeown, then go to the second prefererences. In either case here, regardless
of who would have won the coin flip, the result would have been the same, in
terms of Aranda being the winner.
