Green Party of California announces state meeting in San Jose this weekend; party candidates talk about capitalizing on voter dissatisfaction

GREEN PARTY OF CALIFORNIA PRESS RELEASE

SAN JOSE (March 5, 2010) - The Green Party of California - which hopes to profit from voter dissatisfaction with the two "major" political parties - will hold its state meeting here this weekend (March 6-7), drawing up to 100 delegates from throughout the state.

A news conference featuring state and local candidates, and party officials, will be held SATURDAY, 12:15 p.m., at the meeting site, United Way Building (1922 The Alameda).

Both Green Party gubernatorial candidates are expected to attend.

The state meeting, which begins daily at 9 a.m., will also include a Candidate Forum Saturday from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 2221 The Alameda in Santa Clara.

The Green Party of California will make a statement concerning the propositions on June's ballot, including Prop. 14, which would essentially "ban" the Green Party and other smaller parties from the ballot in general state elections.

The Green Party argues that since polls show only 16 percent of voters (Field Poll, January 2010) approve of the job the state legislature (made up entirely of Democrats and Republicans) is doing, now is the time voters should turn to alternative parties such as the Greens.
