June 2014 General Assembly of the Green Party of California/June 21-22 in Santa Barbara - Logistics

The next General Assembly of the Green Party of California will be Saturday/ Sunday, June 21-22 at the University of California Santa Barbara. The meeting will be held in the Santa Rosa Dorm Formal Lounge (see campus map),  in Isla Vista, just outside of Santa Barbara.

Registration: $40 in advance, $50 at door. All registrations include lunch and a light breakfast each day and all meals are vegan.

Lodging: We are also strongly encouraging all attendees to stay in the dorms on Saturday night, to maximize planned and spontaneous interactions, at this critical juncture for our party where our survival is threatened by Proposition 14 (Top Two Primary) - and because other lodging options in the Santa Barbara area are much more expensive. We are offering a discounted combined registration/room price of $105 in a double room, if paid by June 1. Off-campus lodging for Friday night: There is not on-campus lodging available at UCSB for Friday night. If you want to stay in Santa Barbara on Friday night, you can try these private home options via Couchsurfing (free) or airbnb ($$), or camping at these nearby campgrounds. We are also in contact with local Santa Barbara Greens to identify possible home stay opportunities, but have not found any yet.  Hotels in Santa Barbara can be very expensive, but are less so in the city of Ventura, which is immediatley to the south of Santa Barbara. Public Transportation: 
  • City Buses (MTD): Connections to UCSB, Isla Vista, Goleta, and Santa Barbara. See www.sbmtd.gov for info and schedules or call 805-683-3702.
  • Greyhound Bus: located in the Train Depot next to the Amtrak station downtown. (805-965-7551)
  • Amtrak: there are two local stations, one in Goleta and another downtown on lower State Street.
  • Airlines: the Santa Barbara Airport is adjacent to the UCSB campus.
