Top Two Elections and their Effects on the Smaller Parties - A joint statement from the Green Party, Libertarian Party and Peace and Freedom Party

In view of the devastating effect the Top Two system is having on California's smaller parties, the following statement was sent to all 120 members of the California state legislature

Green Party Policy Demands to the California State Legislature/Green Party Legislative Agenda

The Green Party urges the California State Legislature, in which there is now a historic 2/3 super-majority of Democrats in both houses, to address several key issues confronting our state. The Green Party advocates a ‘Green New Deal’ of specific solutions that would heal our planet, invigorate our democracy, increase fairness in our economy and ensure health-care for all. 

New Green on the Fairfax Town Council

Today, June 9th, 2012, Fairfax Town Councilmember John Reed registered Green.

Reed is now the fourth Green Party member on the five-member Fairfax Town Council, where there has been a Green majority since November 2009.

On December 5th, John Reed became Mayor of Fairfax, the fourth Green in a row to be Mayor there.
